This swing will provide an exciting opportunity for the children to explore larger play equipment.

This will be a fantastic way to encourage turn taking, verbal communication, understanding of personal boundaries/risk assessing, and will act as a tool for general enjoyment in our outdoor space.

  1. If used incorrectly / unsupervised a child could fall off the apparatus  resulting in a broken limb / head injury / general cuts and bruises.
  2. Children moving around/pushing swing could be hit by it swinging back.
  3. Swing could connect with the wooden post if pushed too hard, resulting in injury to the child sitting on it.

Daily Measures:

  1. Staff to visually check all ropes – knots secure, no signs of abrasion or tampering
  2. Staff to physically check the equipment to ensure it can hold a reasonable weight.

AT ALL TIMES:

  1. There must be direct supervision by staff members when swing is attached
  2. Only staff to push children on the swing, as they can physically control the height/speed and prevent it from colliding with wooden posts.
  3. No more than 2 children are allowed in the web-swing / no children should be standing around the web swing when it is in use
  4. Before connecting the web swing, the wicker mats must be placed underneath.
  1. Provides opportunity for physical development and exciting challenges.
  2. Provides opportunity for children to explore, height, balance and verbal communication – ‘more’ ,’higher’, ‘all done’.
